Mendelian Genetics- phenotypes don't always tell what the genotype is because the phenotype is the physical appearance, and a genotype is the letter type ex: (Hh, HH, hh) the phenotype will tell you what the trait is but it doesn't tell you the genotype. For example, HH and Hh would have the same phenotype but are obviously different genotypes.
